Set In Seam block!!

You can imagine how unpopular I now am after being chosen by Peg in our online stitching Group the next  BOM  for May when I chosse a "set in seam".

I thought it  was just me that would normally avoid these type of blocks as I always look for the "easy ones"  so decided it was time for a challenge to try something different.  Well it seems after all the comments from the girls, that I am not alone when it comes to piecing these blocks - it seems that  many of  avoid these!!!

Anyway - it really wasnt that bad.  the trick with the "set in seams" is to NOT LIFT the needle on the turning point and to get smack bang in the middle.  I did a little tutorial which may help others if you havent given it a go. However........I did give it a test run first,  and was pretty pleased with the result.    .

Find the centre of the triangle and use a pin to do to the joined seam underneath.

then just pivot from this needle without moving it to lay the material to be stitching in place along the left seam.
Once you start to machine sew, keep this pin in place so that it doesnt move and so that you know you still have the centre in the right place.

When you get to the very centre,  liftt the pin, and hand turn your sewing machines wheel to make sure the machine needle goes exactly into this spot - keep machine needle in place and lift the pressure foot, twist the material so that it lays flat , lowever the foot, then  stitch down the other side.

Make sure you iron the seams to give a nice flat finish
and the finished block!!!!

I have to admit I've never done anything like that. Guess I just like simple straight seams! Nice block though! :0)
