QUESTIONS FOR TRIANGLE SIZES????

Can anyone help me with  the formula for working out the size to cut the  1/2 and 1/4 size triangles.
ie.

*  I wish to put 12.5 in squares on point for a sampler quilt
*  I need the formula for how big to cut the 1/2 triangles that go on edges??
* and... also the corner 1/4 triangles.

I cannot seem to find this in my notes, and rather than guess, thought I might ask the experts - you wonderful bloggers.

*wave* i know that one...

i am assuming that your blocks finish at 12 inches:
sqaures cut for side triangles: 18 1/4" cut on both diagonals to yield four side traingles

you'll need two squares cut at 9 3/8" cut once diagonally to yeild 4 corner triangles..

if your blocks are 12 1/2" finished:
side traingles: 19"
corners: 9 3/4"

these measurements give you exactly a 1/4" point. if you want you blocks to 'float'- cut the bigger size.

hope this helps! anything else let me know!
happy stitches!

FANTASTIC, Shannon! Thank you, makes it all much easier than trying to work it out yourself by trial and error :D
