My First Quilt for 2010

This is the quilt I made for my youngest who has left home and living in Brisbane

She is theming her new little place iwth the Oriental look,  so sticking to my New Years resolution of "using my stash", I have managed to put this together, only having to purchase a little extra black.

I am really happy with it and I actually did it as a "Quilt as you go" so that I could quilt it myself.  It was a great way to get to know my new Bernina.

With every quilt comes a story - this one was that I sewed the back on upside down WHEN I WAS STIPPLING, so actually had to unpick it and re-sew half of it  - now that was a nightmare.  Next time, I will CHECK TWICE, sew once.

I love the shirt quilt. you did a great job! Is it your pattern? Can you give the pattern on your blog? It is a good way to show off fabrics. I love the quilt as you go method. I have only done it by hand, and hope to someday learn to quilt on the machine. There is an old saying..."Measure it twice and cut once". This helps to double check.
